Momo's 1-year anniversary with us [02 Jan 2010|11:40pm] nativegirl Today marks my one-year anniversary of adopting Momo, my Japanese Chin! It's amazing to see how far she's departed from her extremely shy, almost unfriendly demeanor, to become the affectionate puppy that she is now! We still have a hard time with her around strangers and dogs, but considering how she was when we adopted her at 8 months old, she has really come a long way. When we first adopted her, she didn't want to be held or petted - she always hid under beds and ran away when we put her in the backyard. She was obviously never held or loved as a puppy, and we even think she might have been abused (she is TERRIFIED of leashes and brooms). It's really tragic because she is such a good dog - very well-behaved. She's at the point now where she sleeps with us every night, loves interrupting us when we're playing videogames for attention, and loves wrestling with us. It's almost a complete 180 from when we first got her. She's still hides when strangers come to the apartment, and growls at other dogs, but we're working on those! Hopefully by the end of this year we'll have cured all of her anxieties! 10 comments|post comment
